It is alive

I have been cleaning in My Garage the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I got the Nova uncovered and decided to see if it would start. Put a battery in it, checked the oil, and it turned over /no start. Then I cleaned and set the points in the distributer. I primed the carburater and turned the key and it fired up ! I then put some gas in the tank ( it did not run out). Called My nephew Kenny (left message). called my nephew Mike (left message ), Then I called Lonny my Brother in Law he was with me when I bought it in 1983 ! I got to talk to him. Mike called later.
The Brakes need to have new wheel cylinders before I even Think about moving it under its own power. The good thing is it runs , sounds good, and the gas tank don't leak. I think I might clean more in the Garage. Who knows what else i will get the urge to play with. The 5 antique engines, 6 Garden tractors, or the Nova , or use the woodworking machines, They all call my Garage home. I might just get busy !

I think SPRING is coming

I dont know but I have a very good feeling that we are about out of the woods. Any day now Robins should be coming to our bird Feeder. We just moved our clocks ahead. at work we have went through a ton of patch mix and have about a ton to go. I think groundhogs day was 6 weeks ago. Easters in 2 weeks and you now what that means "He has Risen" !!



You don't really think about what your kids remember from years before. Rick texted me about a trip he and I took a few years ago to get a parts truck for Steve(a Guy I help from time to time) this was also a test drive for the Suburban (we bought it after the trip) to Austin Minnesota. He was asking about a town in Iowa, Independence. It is the town that we had to go to and get a sparkplug for the Suburban (1 had came out on the highway).

Spring is coming and we get more Snow and Rain !!!!!!!!
Spring is coming in 5 weeks and 5 days. Snowed last night (Sunday) about 6 inches so I had to get up early to move snow. The Boss broke the new truck Friday (the one I use) and all we had left was the 1973 Chevy, and the JD Loader Backhoe. The loader works pretty good on the alleys and short streets. The Part comes on Tuesday so we will have both trucks for the next Storm. Today we had Thunder Storms and had to keep storm drains open ! alot of the snow melted but we are suppossed to get more Tue - Wed. (Snow) I cant wait till spring , Mow the yard. Play in the Garage with out having to run the Heater. Etc,. I think I might take a Nap.

Snow

Here we go again. Just got the last batch of SNOW plowed, pushed, hauled, and salted. Early Wed. Morning to quiting time wed. and then again today. Some people have a Brain and some don't. (cars and trailers left on Street ). Blowing snow or pushing snow in street and then complain when you plow it back or leave it and let it freeze. either way they are never happy. The new truck (about 3 years old) is a lot nicer than the old POC we had. The Loader (about 7 years old)is a lot nicer than the old tractor. I start out with the 7400 International Truck and the Boss has the 1973 Chevy and we plow the 3 long streets. Then we park the Chevy and Randy takes the International and finishes the town. I get in the 310 John Deere Backhoe loader and clean up town. I get all done and I feel like I have Popeye arms. So tonight (Thursday) we are suppossed to get 2-4 inches again. So I will probably get a call and Randy will say "Buddy you ready to plow" and I will say "I will be right there ". My Mom says you useto like snow. The kids like the piles of Snow I make, and They love the Tractor and Truck but they like them all year long. So far we have had more compliments than complaints. (no calls from the Board president). We got the loader and truck when they were new . It makes the job easier (more enjoyable). Sorry about rambling to the 2 people who read my Blog and you know who you are. I might go take a nap ! Turkey Day

Thanksgiving Day is the Day we have to remember what we are thankfull for .Like Family, Church, Health, Home and Employment, Etc. Thanksgiving is My Holiday it is the one That I and Dawn have at our house. I do the Turkey, Dressing, Scalloped corn, ( My Sisters love this). I do most of the cooking at our house anyway. We have a 1000 square foot house and we put about 30 + people in it. I get to see my Neices, nephews , Great and regular, 1 of the 2 boys and I get to hold Babys.

I hate it when this happens

I Just finished putting new shingles on my our house. I am feeling like Forrest Gump when he says " I saw the president Again". I will tell you why last year I put cement board siding on our Garage and got all the way to the last piece and smashed my finger on my left hand with the hammer. It healed well job done well good deal. Fast forward to early October I have 40 bundles of shingles to put on. Work my way up and around on the roof about 13 squares . Putting on the hip and ridge shingles to Finish the job on the last nail I hit the one Nail I didnt want to the very same one I NAILED before. Job is DONE . I have about 30 years to wait to put shingles on the house. But the Garage is going to need them sooner and next time I am going to be very careful!

Old Days

Have you ever notice how sometimes a picture can take you back. My cousin sent a pic of us in a cart behind a John Deere 112 in about 1967. I have this cart and a John Deere Tractor and have Given Rides to my Nieces and Nephews. I also have the 112 tractor in the pic also. Seems like just yesterday!
